Our Mission

We produce home-grown, commercially viable feature films. We build careers, not just opportunities.

Supporting new talent from under-represented demographics across Northamptonshire.

Our Mission

Talent, not background.

Screen Northants is built on a simple idea: that talent should have the opportunity to be identified, developed, and nurtured no matter the background of the young person.

Our work sits at the intersection of two worlds, making genuinely commercial feature films, and training the next generation of film-makers on those same productions. Our young people aren't observing the industry from the sidelines; they're working on it.

We work specifically with young people from under-represented demographics in Northamptonshire, opening a route into Film & TV that simply doesn't exist for most of them.

The Problem

Three barriers to industry participation.

We believe that talent should have the opportunity to be identified, developed and nurtured, no matter the background of the young person. We've identified three barriers we need to break.

01

Socio-economic

Industry entry-level pay is a significant barrier for young people without family financial backing. Unpaid placements and low starting wages exclude exactly the talent we should be developing.

02

Geographical

Film and TV production in the UK is heavily concentrated in London and the South East, putting careers in the industry out of reach for young people in towns like Northampton.

03

Exposure

You can't be what you can't see. Without family or friends in the industry, young people from under-represented backgrounds often never even consider Film & TV as a career.

Our Approach

Screen Northants is made up of two strands.

Film

Film

We produce professional, commercially viable feature films. Our productions are run on industry standards and built on meritocracy, putting new talent shoulder-to-shoulder with established crew.

Academy

Academy

A 7-year training programme for 14–21 year olds from Northamptonshire, focused on young people from demographics under-represented in Film & TV.

Testimonials

What people say about Screen Northants.

What Screen Northants is doing is exactly the kind of grassroots, real-world training the industry urgently needs.

Luke Scott

CEO, Ridley Scott Creative Group

The Academy gave me proper on-set experience, not a classroom version. It's the reason I'm working in the industry now.

Sam Dudman

Academy Graduate

I never thought a career in film was possible for someone like me. Screen Northants completely changed that.

Rhiannon Pallister

Academy Graduate

Macbeth is the kind of film that proves you can train new talent and still deliver something cinematic and commercial.
